Land Clearing & Lot Clearing

Clearing trees, brush and debris so a lot or site is ready for the next phase.

Before a lot can be graded, dug or built on, it often has to be cleared. Valley Brook Services clears wooded lots and building sites so the next phase of work can begin. As a full-package excavation company, we can continue straight from clearing into site prep, grading and utilities.

Lot Clearing and Land Clearing

Clearing means removing the trees, brush and debris that stand between you and a buildable site. We clear lots for homes, garages and pole barns, and larger parcels for development or commercial work. Our gallery includes wooded sites cleared and stripped down to bare ground for the next step.

Clearing as the First Step of a Bigger Project

Clearing is usually the first of several steps, which is where a full-package company has an advantage. After a lot is cleared, the same company can strip topsoil, rough grade, build a pad, dig the foundation and run utilities. Fewer handoffs means fewer delays between phases and a single point of contact for the job.

Equipment for the Terrain

Western Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio are hilly and wooded in many places, and clearing a sloped or heavily wooded lot takes the right machines. We run excavators, skid steers and track loaders, along with our own dump trucks to move material.

Why Clearing Comes Before Everything Else

Stumps, roots and brush left in the ground cause problems later, from settling under a pad to trouble with trenches and footers. Clearing the site properly at the start gives the next trades solid, workable ground. It also lets us see what is really on the lot: rock, wet spots, old structures and the true slope of the land, all of which affect the plan and the quote.

Plan Around Access and Neighbors

Before clearing, we look at how equipment will get to the site, where material can go, and how close the work is to property lines, utilities and neighboring homes. Marking property boundaries and calling 811 before any digging are the first steps on any lot.

What to Tell Us

  • The address or parcel and the county
  • What is on the site: mature trees, brush, fencing or old structures
  • What the cleared ground will be used for, and when the next phase starts
  • How equipment can reach the site

Send what you know through the contact form.
