Underground Utilities & Stormwater

Trenching, pipe and stormwater installs for new homes, developments and commercial sites.

Underground work is part of the full-package excavation Valley Brook Services offers. We trench and install underground utilities, and we install and manage stormwater systems, for new homes, developments and commercial sites. If a project needs pipe in the ground before the grading, paving or building goes on top of it, we can do that work.

Underground Utility Trenching and Pipe

Utility work starts with a clean trench at the right depth and grade, and it ends with pipe bedded, laid and backfilled correctly. Our photo gallery includes trenches with corrugated and plastic pipe, and conduit laid in new developments. We run the excavation, haul the stone and backfill, and coordinate the work as part of the larger site package.

Stormwater Installs and Management

We install stormwater systems and handle stormwater management on larger projects. When a commercial site needs grading for a parking area with catch basins and stormwater piping, that is work that sits right alongside utilities. Stormwater requirements are set by the township and the project, so we work from the approved plans.

Utilities as Part of the Site Package

Utilities, grading, site prep and foundations all affect each other. When one company handles several of those steps, the work lines up better: trenches go in before the final grade, stone is on site when the pipe crew needs it, and the dirt that comes out of the trench is handled once. That is the advantage of a full-package excavation company.

Call 811 Before You Dig

Before any digging, buried utilities have to be located and marked. Pennsylvania and Ohio both require a call to 811 before excavation begins. If you are planning your own work on a property, make that call well ahead of digging, and ask us about how it fits into the project schedule.

What to Tell Us

  • The address and county, and whether this is a new build, a development or a commercial site
  • What is going in: water, sewer, storm, conduit or other lines, and roughly how long the runs are
  • Whether you have plans or an engineer's design to work from
  • Your timeline and when the trench has to be open and closed

Send what you have through the contact form and we will take it from there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of underground work do you do?

Do you handle stormwater for commercial sites?

Yes. Stormwater installs and management, including catch basins on commercial grading projects, are part of our underground work.

Is stormwater work something you do on small residential drainage problems?

Our stormwater work is aimed at larger systems tied to development and commercial sites. Tell us about your situation and we will tell you honestly whether it is a fit.

Do I need to call 811?

Yes. Both Pennsylvania and Ohio require a call to 811 before excavation so buried utilities can be marked.
